NATIONAL PRODUCTIVITY COUNCIL

The National Productivity Council (NPC), an autonomous organization under the Department for Promotion of Industry & Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, has been at the forefront of driving productivity, quality, and competitiveness across Indian industries since 1958. NPC is a constituent of the Tokyo-based Asian Productivity Organisation (APO), with India as a founding member, and has played a pivotal role in implementing productivity improvement initiatives nationwide.

As a proactive step towards strengthening the MSME ecosystem in Andhra Pradesh, the Andhra Pradesh MSME Development Corporation (AP MSME DC) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with NPC on 27th June 2025. This strategic partnership aims to promote and facilitate the MSME Competitive Lean Scheme (MCLS), empowering MSMEs in Andhra Pradesh to adopt world-class Lean manufacturing practices, reduce waste, and boost profitability.

Services Provided

The Half-Day Awareness Programs introduce Udyam-registered manufacturing MSMEs to Lean Manufacturing practices, covering tools and techniques to eliminate waste, streamline operations, improve quality, and optimize resources. Through interactive sessions and case studies, participants learn practical ways to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and boost customer satisfaction. These programs equip MSMEs to adopt sustainable practices, strengthen competitiveness, and prepare for participation in Group of Enterprises (GoEs) and government-supported Lean initiatives.

The Five-Day Training Program equips professionals, academicians, and industry experts with in-depth Lean Manufacturing knowledge through case studies and practical exercises. Participants develop the skills to guide MSMEs in implementing Lean principles and, upon completion, may be empanelled as Lean Manufacturing Consultants with NPC and other agencies, enabling them to support enterprises in improving productivity, efficiency, and competitiveness.

Groups of Enterprises (GoEs) bring together Udyam-registered manufacturing MSMEs to collaborate on Lean Manufacturing and productivity initiatives. By sharing best practices, pooling resources, and accessing government support, MSMEs can reduce costs, improve quality, enhance market responsiveness, and pursue joint initiatives, mentoring, and capacity-building, fostering a sustainable and competitive industrial ecosystem.
